Beautiful Art Nouveau Insect Brooch
This is a delightful brooch signed by Georges Flamand, Paris and it also has the BTe mark on the pin for Elizabeth Bonte. Both were inspired by the fabulous designs of Rene Lalique in horn and other natural materials and worked together in his studio in Paris. It dates to around 1900. I am not quite sure if this is a Bee, Hornet or a Dragonfly or maybe a combination of all three?
Made from horn that has been pressed and carved into shape. It measures 3" (7.5cm) across and is 2" (5cm tall).
Condition: There appear to be two fissures across the back, these do not go through to the front and do not compromise the brooch.

Describing Precious Metals and Stones
We use industry standard methods for calculating stone weights and / or colour (if stated) in set jewellery using measurements, calculations and comparison. We do not remove stones from their settings to determine size or colour.
*ALL Gold and or Platinum stated precious metals that bare no stamp or hallmark are tested using a non-destructive electronic testing device. All silver is acid tested.
ALL Weights & Measures are Approximate but we use a calibrated Tanita Scale and Steel Ruler and Electronic Micrometer . Unless otherwise stated, any dimensions and estimated weights of gemstones in this description have been determined without unsetting the stones and are, therefore, to be considered only as a probable because of limitations imposed by the mount.
