Beautiful Art Nouveau Insect Brooch
This is a delightful brooch signed by Georges Flamand, Paris and it also has the BTe mark on the pin for Elizabeth Bonte. Both were inspired by the fabulous designs of Rene Lalique in horn and other natural materials and worked together in his studio in Paris. It dates to around 1900. I am not quite sure if this is a Bee, Hornet or a Dragonfly or maybe a combination of all three?
Made from horn that has been pressed and carved into shape. It measures 3" (7.5cm) across and is 2" (5cm tall).
Condition: There appear to be two fissures across the back, these do not go through to the front and do not compromise the brooch.
