Cornflower Blue Sapphire Ring by Theodore Fahrner
Absolutely STUNNING and wearable Theodore Fahrner Ring. This is a fabulous opportunity to buy a really rare original Art Deco ring from the early 20's. It is from my own collection (I am selling some other pieces too). The stone is a quality synthetic cornflower blue sapphire. Sythetic stones are not glass, they are grown in a lab and have all the same properties as Natural Sapphires. Fahrner used synthetic stones prolifically in their jewellery, especially Aquamarines but I've yet to see a Sapphire. This fabulous ring is sterling silver and set with Marcasite.
I have NEVER seen this ring before in all my years collecting - it is a rare thing and just looks stunning on.
T hree marcasite's missing some cracked/chipped but they are so small that they are not noticeable. I would expect to see this sort of wear on a silver ring of this age.
S t amped 925 TH in Circle - early 20's Mark
Condition: there is some wear to the edges of the Sapphire only noticeable when you take a 10 x loupe to it. If I give you the stone size it should give you an idea of the ring size - stone 1cm x 1cm
Ring Size is:
UK P 1/2
USA 8 Inside Diameter: 19mm
For those that do not know their ring size (husbands please note!) take a ring that fits and measure the inside of the ring side to side which will give you the diameter.

Size: 18.5cm (fastens to 18cm) end to end - Width 8mm

German Jewellery of the Period I love the Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau) Jewellery produced in Pforzheim, Germany around the 1900's. This small town, on the outskirts of the Black Forrest, became the centre of the German Jewellery industry. An industry that employed more than 14,000 men and women producing some of the most fabulous jewellery of the period. It was exported all over the world and many pieces were sold here in the UK through wholesalers like Murrle Bennett & Co, who supplied retailers like Liberty's of London. One of the many firms producing stunning Jewellery in Pforzheim was Theodor Fahrner. Theodor Fahrner Junior took over the business upon his father's death in 1883. Around 1900 they began to enjoy real commercial success and this was in part, due to the company actively collaborating with numerous artists, especially the Mathilde Denholm Darmstadt Artists Colony whose members included Joseph Olbrich. Theodor Fahrner Jnr died in 1919 and Gustav Braendle acquired the company in the same year, continuing to run the business, calling it Gustav Braendle, Theodor Fahrner Nachf.
