Product information

SOLD Antique Victorian Cameo

Very attractive and well carved cameo of Diana the Huntress, nice deep carving and of particular not is the dog in the foreground.
There are scratched initials on the Cameo at the rear Jhm or Jtm? and the number 2 in an old font.
Looking at the frame construction I would say that this cameo dates to around 1850. The frame is 9ct gold plated. I have included lots of photo’s so that you can see the frame, rear and cameo.
It closes with a steel pin and C catch –the pin extends beyond the brooch*
It measures just over 2” (5cm)x 1 ¾” (4.5)

*Extended pins on brooches are often a good indicator of period. The pins were made longer and extended beyond the edge of a brooch to accommodate the thicker Victorian fabrics that were pre 1880’s
