Absolutely Stunning Art Nouveau Slider Chain C.1890's
Set with heart shaped real Opals, a tiny Garnet and Pearl this super long, 56" flat link Slider Chain is just absolutely gorgeous.
Slider chains, also known as Guard chains, Lorgnette Chains and Muff Chains were used for a variety of purposes and worn both long or wrapped around several times shorter. This one still has it's original Swivel Clip on the end, used for a watch, locket, glasses or perhaps a key.
Fabulously versatile they can be worn long or to look like layered necklaces around the neck or even as a bracelet.
I love the unusual flat link design of the chain on this one and it is a beautiful rose gold colour.
All parts are solid 9ct gold - the back of the slider is stamped 333 which is the mark for 8ct but all parts test as 9ct on both the electronic tester and via acid testing.
This fabulous necklace / chain dates to around the 1890's and the opals are those gorgeous bright blue ones you see from around this period. It comes in the gift box shown (UK only - USA will come in a smaller box due to the size and weight), so ideal for giving.
